Sample Solo Piano Programs for Recital Series, Radio Broadcasts, or Live Concerts:
Bach to Brubeck - A collection of piano works taking their inspiration from J.S. Bach - starting with Bach himself, going on to include composers who acknowledge using him as a model (Mozart, Mendelssohn, Reger etc.) and then into two Rachmaninov Bach transcriptions followed by some Dave Brubeck and other more comtemporary (and surprising) results of the great master's influence.
Rhythms of the Dance - A selection pf piano workds based on dance rhythms, sometimes now obviously so, such as Rachminov's Corelli Variations, Scarlatti sonatas, Granados Goyescas or Spanish Dances, Chopin Waltzes, Mazurkas and Polonaises, Debussy Valse Romantique and Masque, Brahm, Mozart and Schubert.
A Russian Renaissance - The Rachmaninov piano Sonata in d minor and some of his Preludes combined with some of Prokofiev Visions Fugitives and Scriabin Prelude/Etudes and a selection from Tchaikovsky's Seasons.
Hidden Jewels of Max Reger - On a recent tour of the former East Germany, I stumbled upon piles of short lyrical piano works by this neglected composer. These romantic minatures are completely unlike his more widely known large scale works. I really look forward to sharing them with audiences and combining them in recitals with the works of other composers from the same period.
Endings and beginnings at the turn of the century - Showing the variety of compositional styles being used around the world from 1896-1918 including music by Debussy, Granados, Reger, Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Griffes, Berg, Ravel, De Falla, MacDowell, Sibelius and Dvorak.
Beethoven
Variations in C minor with Rachmaninov “Corelli” Variations
A special program telling the story behind Rachmaninov’s rarely
performed but monumental work, his Piano Sonata No 1 in d minor,
followed by a live performance of the piece.
